Sarah Blum-Sheller LM, CPM

I was born and raised in Germany and have lived in the US since 2000. After over 20 years in Arizona, my family and I made a new home in Tigerville, South Carolina in 2022. My husband Tarik and I have been married for 24 years and we have three daughters, who were born at home. I have wanted to become a midwife since I was 13 years old. I applied to midwifery schools in Germany when I finished high school with 16, but due to my young age was not accepted into the programs at that time. In 2003 I became a certified Doula and started my midwifery education and apprenticeship in Arizona. I attended the Midwives College of Utah and Casa De Nacemiento in El Paso. I received my CPM and AZ LM in 2008 and owned a busy practice. With my SC license I am excited to serve women, babies and families in the Upstate. In my free time enjoy gardening and nature, crafting and creating.

Rachel Dobbins LMA, RN, BSN

As a Greenville native, I’m excited to do my midwifery apprenticeship right here in the Upstate. My interest in birthwork began as a little girl, and that calling only grew clearer while in nursing school. In December 2020, I graduated with my bachelor’s of science in nursing (BSN) from USC Upstate along with a biology degree from North Greenville University. For the next 4 years, I had the joy of working with newborns before starting with Newlife International School of Midwifery in October 2024. In March 2026, I began my journey as a licensed midwifery apprentice (LMA). I believe every expecting family deserves the midwifery model of care, and I’m especially passionate about holistic postpartum services. During my free time, I love being with my family, spending time in nature, crocheting, and tinkering with my 3D printer.

Abigail Bishop LMT

I am a native of the Appalachian mountains in North Carolina, which is where I started my massage and bodywork career over 10 years ago. In 2018 my husband, Gavin, and I moved to Greenville and settled into life here. After catching the “birth bug” with the birth of my niece in 2019, I began learning everything I could about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding and integrating it into my massage practice.
After the incredibly transformative birth of my own daughter, I knew I had to jump in to birth-work with both feet. I became a doula, a student of midwifery, and most recently an assistant to Sarah which has been an amazing honor.
When I’m not wearing any of those hats, I love to read all the books, play outside with my daughter, and craft.

April McMasters

I am a proud mother of two grown children—Aaron, an Aerospace Engineer in the Air Force, and Makayla, the owner of Barefoot Birth—as well as a proud grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren. I live in the Upstate with my husband, and I enjoy cooking, being involved in my church, spending time with family, and snuggling up with my blind kitty, Minnie.
My passion for birth work began in a very unexpected way—when I delivered my first grandchild at home. A few years later, I found myself unexpectedly delivering another grandbaby in the backseat of our car. Those experiences opened my heart to the beauty and power of birth.
I find great joy in supporting families during one of the most personal and sacred moments of their lives. Being a calming, encouraging presence during birth is an honor. Getting to support Makayla in a career she loves, while fulfilling my own calling, truly feels like a dream come true.

Makayla Cole LM, CPM

Like many birth workers, my passion for birth was born through the experience of having my own children. Each birth left me feeling empowered and deeply connected to the sacredness of the process. After the birth of my third and final child in 2019, I knew I couldn’t ignore the calling—I jumped headfirst into birth work.
I began as a doula and birth photographer to immerse myself in the world I loved, always knowing that midwifery was the ultimate goal. In 2020, I officially began my midwifery training and in 2023, I proudly earned my Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential and became a licensed midwife in the state of South Carolina.
When I’m not supporting families in the birth space, I’m at home on our little homestead—gardening, wrangling chickens, and soaking up nature with my family.
